Desktop Tower Defense is an example of a Tower Defense game. It is pretty amusing and quite simple in concept, but takes some skill to get right. These games rely on old school fun rather than flashy graphics.
The idea is to funnel waves of enemies that are trying to get from one side of a map to another. You have to set up your defenses to funnel them through and make the most of your spenditure. As you do away with more badies, you get more spenditure to increase your defenese or upgrade them.
Fantastic Contraption is a fun engineering puzzle game. You are provided with some different wheels and options to join them together. You build your contraption in a starting area and then you can start it running. The idea is to get these pink shapes (your payload) into the pink zone. It's quite a fun little game.
This guy is playing World of Warcraft on his iPhone. Not quite the most user friendly looking experience. World of Warcraft is actually being run from the computer and then controlled via the iPhone, so not the most portable/sensible option either. Good for a quick laugh though.
Ventrilo has a free server license version, but you will need to read the Ventrilo licensing agreement to see if you qualify to use Vent for free. Installation instructions can be found at http://www.ventrilo.com/forums/showpost.php?p=52411&postcount=2
Ventrilo is meant to be better than Teamspeak, but many people will need to buy a license to use it legally.
Note that if you set up your own Ventrilo or Teamspeak server, it can use a lot of bandwidth.
Here are some links to use freely available Ventrilo servers.
TeamSpeak 4 Free claims to have free TeamSpeak servers available for guilds etc to use. I haven't look into it. I play WoW, but given what I hear on channels, I have no wish to listen to people on TeamSpeak *shudder*. You might find it useful though.
Ventrilo is meant to be a nicer system to use than TeamSpeak. See here for free Ventrilo Server information
ROFL Attack is a game that is great for a laugh. Try it here. Actually playing it isn't really the point. ROFL Attack is a spoof of Heli Attack 2 and is more for amusement that playing. Make sure you have your sound on for some extra laughs.
In ROFL Attack, you are an elite ROFLer and fly your ROFLcopter to destroy LOLLERskaters and LMAOplanes using OMGmissiles and WTFbombs. PWNage!1SHIFT+1
Heli Attack 2 is a game that on its own is pretty lame. Its main claim to fame is that the much more amusing, although equally crap game, ROFL Attack spawned from it.
Dark Swords is a free MMORPG game. It looks a bit like a telnet/chat client integrated with a 3D engine from the screenshots. Let's hope they put more imagination into the game than they did into its title.
Winterbells is a simple game. You control a cute little bunny that is trying to climb to heaven or at least get away from the mundane boring plane where it currently resides by jumping on bells.
Each time the bunny touches a bell, you get propelled higher into the air and score some points. There are some other things to jump on as well to help your score along.
The bunny must be part cat. I was expecting it to splat on the ground once I missed my last bell, but I guess it is a family game. Booo!
Play Winterbells and trounc
SlimeBall is a very simple game to learn, but an incredibly difficult one to master. It is also pretty fun to play if you enjoy a challenge and can stand being beaten by a computer a lot.
It is a derivitation of volleyball. You can play against the computer or against a friend.
Here are some Slimeball tips:
